New to chickens

well i have seen some new faces on here like myself but as i was setting in the yard today i thought what it must be like to get into the chickens and have no knowledge as i was born into this fine sport i thought dam n must be over bearing at times so i thought i would just put down a few thoughts for the molt and my ways not saying there right or this is how its done just maybe a few things to help and people can improve on mine

Molt is a very stressful time for ur chickens and i agree they should spar during molt but i dont i know they will but anyway.

im gonna talk about worming during molt i dont like to handle them and times u just have to.

going into the molt which is here mid june start off july i hit them with inj ivomec
i give little larger than a pill squirt

if i worm in june then july i give pig swig for there wormer ps thats not a good wormer to give all the time to me doesnt do as good but it keeps me from grabbing them

aug the get wazine liquid wormer and sept depending on feathers

after that its back to the horse worming paste and inj ivomec(just my option but best wormer ever) i give to 2-3 drops from needle this kills everything feather mites to wormes

i will also from time to time give tobacco as wormer but never during showing season

the reason i swap from different wormer is i have always heard worms call develop immunity to a wormer dont know if its true but thats why.

last thing dont play around with the ivomec inj it is strong stuff i know a guy who has cattle he had tailgate down a spilled some went to get a towel to wipe up and came back dog was licking it he went blind for 2 days i seen the dog he was blind i asked what happened he told me and then i have seen the dog since then and he sees just fine so becareful

Attention cockers, you need to know the truth about the biggest fraud in the business.

Since I said fraud you obviously know I am talking about Bill Roberts from Utah.

Here facts and you can call and ask Bill Roberts yourself.

1. Bill Roberts buys gamefowl at flea markets and sells them as if they are pure Radios. He ships his worst birds to Mexico then writes articles in Gamecock accusing other people of what he does.

2. Bill Roberts sold junk roosters to a retarded kid and laughed about it. He took advantage of a poor retarded kid that was trying to get started with a new hobby.

3. Bill Roberts was arrested for stealing condoms at Wal-Mart and was also arrested for molesting his 5 year old niece. He claims he was taking the fall for a relative. Who takes a fall for that when they didn't do it?

4. Bill Roberts was pulled over and placed under investigation after driving a van around an elementary school. Local police had a lot of questions about that.

People need to know the truth about this pervert. He is of such low class that he actually says other cockers have done these things when its really him.

Spoof! What a dick.

I have been noticing that my fowl only eat the game bird pellets and alfalfa pellets, but will leave all...literally all the seed behind.

I was thinking of cutting the grain out of the feed, but wanted to get some opinions on it first.

Repudiation of slanderous lies posted about Bill Roberts and his fine fowl

Repudiation of slanderous lies postedabout me and my fine fowl:
Today I, (Bill Roberts), received 2different phone calls from fellow cockers alerting me to the postingon Sabong's website from a disgruntled competitor who goes by theuser-name of “Tazewell Cocker”. I believe that he is motivatedby jealousy, which was the primary cause of the first recorded murderin the Holy Bible, when Cain slew Able.

I am here stating unequivocally thatnone of his lies are true. That a person could be so jealous that hewould stoop so low as to slander a competitor in such a viciousmanner is incomprehensible to me. It clearly shows a lack ofcharacter and morality, and veracity. (Indeed: the truth is not inhim!)

I got my first game bird over 60 yearsago, and have always appreciated the beauty and qualities that gamebirds uniquely possess. Since then, I have wanted to build a primegame-farm, and breed the finest game birds possible. Togetherwith my wife, I purchased this farm in 1992, and proceeded to buildmy “dream gamebird farm” with 460 brood pens, surrounded by a 6ft. high concrete-block fence to protect them from varmints. Visitorsare always welcometo come and see my fine fowl and observe their good housing, andexcellent care they receive every day. I am blessed to have one ofour 4 sons, John, 49, working for me full-time, to see that the birdsreceive the best care each and every day.

Incidentally: my lovely wife and I havebeen happily and faithfully married for 61 years, marrying inJan.1954 when we were Freshmen in College. We are blessed with a bigfamily we dearly love, which, with our children and grandchildren andtheir spouses, and our great-grandchildren, now numbers 44. We areblessed to have frequent family dinner parties, and celebratebirthdays and Holidays together. We are God-fearing, God-lovingChristians who regularly go to Church, and we thank God in our dailyprayers for all blessings. I believe in keeping God's Commandments. Living them is our way of life.

The person who calls himself “TazewellCocker” has accused me of the lowest, most despicable crime:molesting a child. The mere-thought of harming one of God's preciousones is totally unthinkable! Also: I have NEVER been arrested foranything! (“Tazewell Cocker” claims I've been arrested a lot).I've never even gotten a ticket for speeding! And I'm 80 yrs. old, driving for 64 years.

I've told you a very lot about mypersonal life. It is because I do not fear anyone checking intoit....My life is “an open book”, and I'm not ashamed of anything. On the contrary: I'm proud of my family and the life we've builttogether. And I'm very proud of my game birds. They have helped memake many friends throughout the world, because of their healthfulbeauty and their fine, game qualities.

Indeed, I have many friends throughoutthe world because of my birds. Many are Filipino, who, years agotraveled personally to my farm to meet me, inspect my birds, andpurchase fertile eggs to fly home with them. Also many have come tomy farm and personally selected birds, that I've shipped to them inthe Philippines, utilizing the help of a Broker. Most recent examplesof this have been with my Filipino customers Junior Valdez, and alsoAttny. Arturo de Castro. They call me their friend. Another recentFilipino customer who's become quite an e-mail “pen-pal” is ReyPeneverde, who has ordered several of my birds, and raises them ontheir family-farm in Quezon, when he's not working on a Cruise-ship.

I invite any and all who are interestedto come to my bird farm and see for themselves that all I've said istrue. I gladly welcome phone calls and visitors. I actually feelsorry for “Tazewell Cocker”, that he has to resort to slanderinghis competition in order to try to stimulate business forhimself.----I sell the large number of birds that I do each yearbecause of the fact that “good birds sell themselves!”

PLEASE check out my Website at: billrobertsfinefowl.com Thanks, and best wishes, Bill Roberts

The "Quarrelsome" hen

I believe the value of a hen is greatly underestimated. I have always paid very close attention to my brood hens and the traits that I believe produce the best. The hens I have are very quarrelsome. Well, they are down right mean. Do you believe this is a desirable trait to breed for, or should it be bred out of a family?

Pale faced chicks

I'd like a bit of advice on pale faced chicks, I've been line breeding a family of hatch for a few years now all back to they cock side, I'm at 7/8 was going well up till that, but this year all the chicks look very pale and sick, but the aren't acting sick they are running around the yard like athletes, but look bad I don't think it's C,R,D because they are not just standing around feeling sorry for themselves
I should be at 15)16 this year but I didn't get and good pullets to breed from.
The cock is four years old this year and look good and fit. The hen is two she has the same sickly look but is health and fit,
I'm thinking strongly if culling they lot only I've spent four years on this particular line!
Any advice would be great :(
