well i have seen some new faces on here like myself but as i was setting in the yard today i thought what it must be like to get into the chickens and have no knowledge as i was born into this fine sport i thought dam n must be over bearing at times so i thought i would just put down a few thoughts for the molt and my ways not saying there right or this is how its done just maybe a few things to help and people can improve on mine
Molt is a very stressful time for ur chickens and i agree they should spar during molt but i dont i know they will but anyway.
im gonna talk about worming during molt i dont like to handle them and times u just have to.
going into the molt which is here mid june start off july i hit them with inj ivomec
i give little larger than a pill squirt
if i worm in june then july i give pig swig for there wormer ps thats not a good wormer to give all the time to me doesnt do as good but it keeps me from grabbing them
aug the get wazine liquid wormer and sept depending on feathers
after that its back to the horse worming paste and inj ivomec(just my option but best wormer ever) i give to 2-3 drops from needle this kills everything feather mites to wormes
i will also from time to time give tobacco as wormer but never during showing season
the reason i swap from different wormer is i have always heard worms call develop immunity to a wormer dont know if its true but thats why.
last thing dont play around with the ivomec inj it is strong stuff i know a guy who has cattle he had tailgate down a spilled some went to get a towel to wipe up and came back dog was licking it he went blind for 2 days i seen the dog he was blind i asked what happened he told me and then i have seen the dog since then and he sees just fine so becareful
