Anybody in here breeding the famed duke Hulsey lemon? I believe this is the original bloodline which made the lemon 84 famous and still a reliable base bloodline in the Philippines..

Carl Smith
I just wanted to let the cocking fraternity know that Mr. Carl has passed away today 03/30/16 at the age of 96. He was as game as any rooster that ever crowed! The cocking world has lost another good one and I have lost a truly dear friend!

Great honest breeders.
I just was going to say that anyone interested in kelso chickens I received a fine trio and he threw in a extra stag. Im always skeptical about ordering over the phone without looking but i will say that they far exceeded my expectations. I am no way connected to him or his farm and not trying to help him sell chickens but in an industry that is full of peddlers and crooks that well take your money and send junky chickens i just want to give credit were it is do. I figured Id start a thread about honest sellers.
I have gotten chickens from warparty and tom hargus and dale mack also and they all sent great chickens.
I just gotten back into game fowl and I have bought fowl in the past and had them shipped but these guys sent better than I may could've picked out myself. I'm just thankful that there are still some good men that will sell good chickens.
I started this thread to help newbies out let them know where to put there hard earned money into.

Hello all
Just joined this morning n thought I should say hello. Been out of it for a few years now n thinking about getting started again. I was a member back on pitfowl and gamerooster, Clifty Creek was my handle then. Looking to pick up some brood fowl before too long to go with the few lines Ive tried to hang on to. Thought this might be a good place to find out who is reputable. Anyways, I appreciate the site and information. YFIS Nauvoo

Looking for color
I've seen some blue fowl in the past with beautiful blue colors but now that I want to get some just to see how it mixes with 2 separate strains of pumkin birds I have I can't find what I want. Everything I see on Oakridge auction is a pyle color or some red with alot of white. Does anyone know of any blues that have been proven to be game for the breeder with the blue color I'm looking for? I have 2 strains of pumkin birds, one has been bred down to 1/8th pumkin hulsey with some henny and whitehackle bred in years ago but they are predominantly roundhead. Through years of breeding and meticulous culling the starter of this line has them throwing an 85% or higher pumpkin color to the offspring. The other line is something else he worked on for about 25 years and they look identical, beautiful birds but this strain has no hulsey in the breeding. How he got them to throw pumkin I'm not sure, the 2nd strain is predominantly sweater with henny, kelso, and some kind of blue bred into them way back when. I know most breeders prefer pure birds and 2 to 3 way crosses for battle fowl but the man who gave me these birds has been playing around with these 2 strains for the past 25+ years. And while I don't know how he bred them to throw a pure pumkin color with so many different breeds I must say I do appreciate how they look. Both strains are smart, when put against each other it's a standoff. But any bird that breaks hard and fast and they duck or sidestep everything and always seem to go for the back with there hits. It's impressive as all get out. UT not really my style to breed for gaff. Was just looking for a game line of blues to play with just to see what they would throw crossed with either line color wise. Any information would be appreciated. Pics with contact info to the breeders would be even better.

How rare is it
How often have some of you old timers seen a stag or pullet with mixed legs? I was lucky enough to see my first a few months back, one green leg and one yellow leg. But it's never something I've witnessed in my own breeding, I am new to the sport though and don't have an ounce of the experience alot of you do here. I was just visiting a friend's yard to see if he had any stags to buy and my friend had a high stationed stag in the back I wanted to look at. He said he wasn't for sell but still pulled him out with a big chit eatin grin on his face and when he put him down with another stag he was pretty much hell on wheels for his size and age. I'm sure the leg color has nothing to do with it. I was just amazed to see the legs. Tickled me to death and definitely something you don't see everyday around my neck of the woods.

Egg Question for the Older Cockers
To some of you northern older chicken men. The weather has been crazy. Warm winter then cold then warm again. It has been messing up my egg production. For the last month it has been 40 to 60. I have hens with eggs. None are setting. The last week has been 60 degrees. Now it has been snowing for two days. Temperature 32 to 37. It will be warm again in a few days.
Here is my question. Will the eggs in the nest be okay? With temperatures 32 to 37? Thanks for any responses

Eye injury
Got a rooster that suffered a injury couple weeks back and hasn't gained its eye sight back. It can slightly see large objects a little out of one eye but not enough to take care of itself. It's a dam good rooster and would like to see it recover enough to take care of itself and I will just feed for now on. Everything is good with it besides the vision. Anything I might can try to help it ? I'm thinking they probably not much I can do but wait it out but figured I would ask.
