Hello everyone! I'm a UP BS Architecture student in his final year, now making an undergraduate thesis. Sports stadiums or arenas have generally been designed with Iconology in mind, that is, yung visual imagery sa form ng building. However, and problema po kasi nito ay na-dedetach po kasi siya sa urban environment, primarily dahil "sarado" kasi ang activities ng stadium sa loob lang ng building mismo at wala siyang attachment sa public. Not only that, may ilang stadiums din na located malayo sa center kaya parang isolated siya sa surroundings.
I've decided na maghahanap ako ng mga paraan para ma-blend ang isang sports facilities building (in this case, the cockpit arena) sa physical and social fabric; that way, not only na mas lalong ma-promote ang sabong as a traditional Filipino sport to the masses, ma-revitalize din nito ang urban environment, since meron din siyang mga spaces that will not only complement the activities within the stadium, but also take into account the demand for public spaces for various activities (office, retail, food, etc.).
Meron din siyang possible economic benefits, since mag-gegenerate ng extra revenue ang mga mixed spaces for the building, especially on days na walang matches. Hopefully ang end result will be a Mixed-Use Building with the Cockpit Arena as the main sports facility - isang type ng building na pwedeng ilagay sa downtown or maging centerpiece ng urban redevelopment.

Interesado kasi ako sa cultural significance ng sabong sa Pilipinas, so I pondered on the question as to how to make cockpit arenas evolve in the future. May mga football stadiums na sa ilang bansa na ginagamit ang concept, but I think mas culturally relevant kung sa cockpit arena ako magfo-focus
Ano po yung mga important issues and considerations sa pagdisenyo ng isang sabungan na kailangang i-address para walang conflicts with the mixed spaces? Ano din ang posibleng types ng facilities na compatible sa isang sabungan na ginagamit din ng publiko (like shops, restaurants, offices, etc.)? What other questions can come out from this discussion?
