What are your tactics?

I see a lot of people using the word "SELECTION". DONT HEAR ALOT OF REASONS FOR SELECTION.
You can't "select" if you don't know what your looking for, so prior to selection you must have a "TACTICAL" idea of how you expect them to perform and this is where selection comes into play in ADDITION to winning.
So, What are the tactical performance characteristics you SELECT for?
